A Brief Discussion about U.S. Traffic Rules

Each state in the United States has its own laws especially in terms of traffic like drunk driving, speed regulation, use of mobile phones and others. Judicial system in USA is strict. It is possible for the victims to file civil lawsuits methodically and amount of compensation can be obtained completely. Let us discuss the traffic rules in the USA in depth:

Right Turn at Traffic Lights

A red light is offered that denotes right turn and it is possible to give way to crossing pedestrians and other vehicles. When a panel shows that no right turn on the roads, right turn is prohibited.

First Come First Serve Crossroads

Without traffic rules at the intersections, vehicles must follow a simple system first come first served. STOP signs on the panel and on the grounds must be noticed by the vehicles. Here a full stop must be made instead of go slow or go. First come first serve rule is followed when traffic lights are out of order.

Speed Limits

Speed limits are different throughout the states, counties and towns. According to the USA traffic rules, it is required to keep the speed limit between 55 mph (90 km/h) and 75 mph (120 km/h) on the major roads. On the secondary networks speed limit should be between 55 (88 km/h) and 65 mph (100 km/h). While coming to an intersection or city, it is recommended to reduce the speed. Yellow speed limit panels indicate drivers for slowing down their cars within a few miles. The speed should be reduced gradually for example, 55mph while entering the city. Afterwards, it should be 45 mph and then 35 mph. It is recommended to pay special attention to school zones.  Category

Drinking and Driving

Alcohol limits in blood may vary throughout United States and they are like European limits. If there is any doubt, inquiry is performed in tourist offices and by a bartender or a sheriff. By avoiding drink while driving, it is possible to avoid unpleasant things.

Mobile Phones

A number of states are prohibiting use of mobile phones without a hands-free kit.

Seat Belt

Using seat belt is a must for the driver in the United States. It is also compulsory sometimes for the passengers sitting at the back. On the contrary all the passengers should get insured since in any circumstances this small safety measure can save lives.

Work Zones

In construction spots, speed is restricted always even on holidays or weekends when highway workers are not there. Highway workers encounter danger in their profession therefore they are given protection with strict laws.
