A Brief Discussion about the Editing Procedure of HTML File
A lot of people build and edit web pages by using HTML. By using a text editor like Notepad, it is possible to edit HTML pages. Step 1 – Open the Notepad text editor of Windows. Now choose Open from the file menu or press Ctrl + O for opening the HTML page that requires some modifications. It is important to change the file type from text document to all files. This will display all kinds of files and not only text files. Browsing through the directories of the computer to get the particular HTML file you want to edit.
Step 2 – Click on “Save As” under the File menu for renaming the file. You switch to the original copy if you make unwanted changes. It is important to make a text document file with html extension. In save type option “text documents” should be chosen. A new file name that ends with .html extension should be used as input.
Step 3 – Editing the html file is like editing any other text document. It is recommended to scroll down the part of code that you want to modify and edit the text of file.
Step 4 – Choose the Go To option in the Edit menu when the line number of HTML code is known. It is important to write the line number into the line input box of Go To and click on OK. It moves the cursor directly to the line that needs modification.
Step 5 – Press Ctrl + H or click on Replace in the Edit menu to get text in the HTML file and also change it with new text.
Step 6 – Pressing the “Save” button in the File menu for saving the updated file of HTML.
Step 7 – It is important to preview the updated HTML file into web browser. Click on open in the file menu. Now search for the HTML file on the computer and click on open button.
Step 8 – Now it is time to return to Windows Notepad and choose Save As in the File menu. Selecting the original HTML file and ensuring that the Save As option is set to text document with encoding is as ANSI, click on Save. When the computer will prompt if the original file is to be replaced, answer should be “Yes”.
