Instagram Has Hit 150 Million Monthly Active Users
The news: It was only last year, when Facebook bought Instagram and there were a few criticisms about it. The marketers and others were all trying to speculate whether this merge will bring a different angle. Or it will be nothing much to add to the success of this social media juggernaut. As for the Instagram users, they were trying to figure out whether this will cause harm to their favorite photo
sharing app. Some were really annoyed about it stating that it will only bring ruin for the app. As of this year, Instagram has hit 150 million users. Among these users, more than 60% are from different nations and not from the US.
Great success: The Company had already reached 100 million active users in this February and by June it was 130 million. This excellent app has gained so much of popularity due to its capability of surprising its users and never failing in that. Be it any political outburst or trips around the world, it had used well the adventurous spirit of its users. It new ventures always include adventure, creativity and also brining out different ways to visualize and understand something which have been viewing with a different perspective. The community had promised of late that it will continue to amaze its users with more of such photos. After the acquisition of it by Facebook, the company had added a new feature of video capabilities with its photo-sharing mechanism. The celebs and reputed brands (including some of the conglomerates) wasted no time in applying this new feature. One of the best outcome of it was for Justin Bieber, when the one of the videos of the teenage pop
sensation went viral to the extent of earning 1 million likes. As of now, most of the users access it on the Android platform. It was late in 2010, when the app was launched and was developed for Android users and by 2012, the service was available for the Android users.
A profitable merge indeed: The Company also faces a growing competition from Vine, which reached 40 million users in the last month. However, the popularity is not so since not all the users for Vine are active on the platform. Things seem so much to be in Instagram’s favor right now with it being acquired by the popular social media platform. Before the acquisition, it took 19 months for the photo sharing app to reach 50 million users, right from October 2010. Therefore all the speculations that were made previously (some of the users being seriously angry and said Facebook is going to spoil it completely) are now proved wrong. This is so because the app gained such huge popularity after association with Facebook.
The data that states that more than 60% of its users are from outside US proves that the app gained popularity and more visibility, of great levels. Therefore it proves that people are not always right.
