What is HTML and what does it stand for?

The full form of HTML is Hyper Text Markup Language, which is a markup language used for web documents descriptions. Now if you ask us about a markup language, we can say it is a set of the tags which are markups. HTML tags are used for describing the documents of HTML. For each document, a different tag is used.

The web browsers such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Chrome, Firefox, etc. read these documents and then display them. The HTML tags aren’t displayed by the browsers; instead these are used by the browsers to understand how the documents are to be displayed.

A lot can be done with HTML. For instance, you can add lists in both, bullets and numbers, paragraphs for any text, headlines, quotations and more. There are a lot of web editors who perform really well and they will surely help you in writing the web pages. They won’t require knowing the HTML too. But then, why opt for hand writing it even with such an opportunity? Why still try to learn HTML?
